Windows Vista Product Key
Dear someone I downloaded Windows Vista yesterday and I saw: "You must have product key before you download." I have looked and search your forum and sites but all I get is you link to someone else to solve the problem. My question is: I like to get this product key and where can I get it. If you didn't go through a process where you were given/e-mailed a key before you downloaded it, your not going to get one now.

Quite Right you have to go through the proccess of getting the key before downloading the Program...I might be under correction but I think that the Vista Beta 2 is now closed to the public...
Hi,
Nope, you're right - it's closed as of Friday, June 30.

I never saw any product key and it has not been emailed to me so I am very dissapointed about this. Why on earth is Microsoft doing this, you may download some beta test program from them with some product key, and the program has an expire in 2007. I am not understanding this. Sorry but I have always liked program from Microsoft and sure I will in the future, but this is to much let people test beta product and they need some product key for. I have seen a lot of letter here from people asking about this key. I know I downloaded this beta and I was trying to set it up this morning, but I did not find this key. Any suggestion how I can solve this problem. Best regards -- Baldvin Baldvinsson Haedargerdi 21 730 Reydarfjordur Iceland

Sorry, look at this link from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/preview.mspx "Thank you for your interest in Windows Vista. The Customer Preview Program is now closed. We have reached our program capacity and no new orders are being accepted. We apologize for any inconvenience. For registered customers who have received a Product Key the download sites will remain open until Friday, July 14." George
In the included URL, which went to Microsoft's website it mentioned that the program was closed at this time, but for those people that still needed it, the download would be available until 7/14/2006.

When you originally went to the Microsoft site and signed up to download the Beta-2, it would have ended up giving you instructions on how to download the image. On that instructional screen, I believe it displayed the Key code issued to you. At that time you should have taken the time to write it down, but many people didn't think to do it.
At the same time Microsoft should have sent you an E-mail that would also have included the code issued to you. You should have taken the time to write it down at that time as well. Again many people didn't think to do that either.
I have heard from a few people that the E-Mail from Microsoft was detected falsely as Spam and they trashed it without looking at it.
Some people got the E-Mail from Microsoft and did take the time to print the E-Mail for safekeeping, but forgot to check their printout to make sure it printed properly (The code is displayed inside a yellow box, but when printed, just the yellow box prints) and just deleted the E-Mail.
If you had taken the choice to order the DVD's (which will insure that you automatically get the next release (RC1) shipped on DVD), then when you recieve the DVD's there will be a code key included to be used with them.
Other than that, you may just be out of luck. Sorry.
The sign-up period for the Beta is now closed, so you can't go through the process again to get another key from Microsoft.

What Microsoft is doing is keeping the download open for people who signed up and got the product key but have not yet downloaded Vista. The product keys for the Windows Vista Beta 2 CPP were available for nearly a month. "giorgio_pp" wrote in message

The download was left open for those that obtained a product key during the open enrollment, as many were not able to get the download due to extremely high levels of traffic. As of June 30, no new product keys are being issued, so you are basically a day late. You have no choice but to wait and see if this is repeated for RC1, which is presumed to be the next public release.
